Bedroom Furniture

Mattress No Comments »

Buying bedroom furniture can be an exciting time; unfortunately if you have not shopped for bedroom furniture in awhile or this is your first time to buy bedroom furniture on your own you may not be well versed in the many different kinds of bedroom furniture available.

Confusion about bedroom furniture often arises in the different sizes of beds and mattresses available. The twin or single bed is about the smallest type of bed on the market and while manufacturers differ in the sizes slightly, the standard twin or single size bed measures 39 x 74. If you need a twin or single bed that is slightly wider and longer you might consider the size known as the super single; which measures 48 x 84. The old fashioned or full bed also known as the double bed is measured at 54 x 74. This is the kind of bed that you commonly see in standard hotel rooms. A queen size bed measures at 60 x 70 although you can purchase what is known as the California queen bed, a size that comes in longer than the regular queen bed at 60 x 84. The next size up in bedroom furniture is the king size bed measuring 76 x 80 while the California king size bed measures 70 x 84.

When shopping for new bedroom furniture, you will also need to be aware that there are very different types of furniture and beds. For example, you can get a standard bed or you might think about purchasing a water bed. Today, adjustable comfort level beds are also very popular and a wise choice if you have a sleep partner who prefers a different firmness level than you.

If you happen to be shopping for childrens bedroom furniture, today there are many different styles and designs on the market that will actually change to accommodate the growing needs of your child. These styles often start out as cribs that will convert to toddler beds and beyond. The bed that your child sleeps in as a baby can now be the same bed that they sleep in when they go off to college. While these styles are more expensive, they are definitely a good investment when considered over the duration.

Regardless of the type and style of bedroom furniture that you ultimately decide to purchase its a good idea to take your time when shopping. Making a hasty decision when purchasing bedroom furniture often leads to regrets later, as well as many poor nights of sleep.

Adjustable Bed is a Wise Addition to Any Home

Mattress No Comments »

If you’ve ever wondered why a bed is flat and your body isn’t, you’ve probably considered the idea of being one of the many owners of an adjustable bed. There are many advantages that come with an adjustable bed that you just can’t get with any other type of bed on the market today. With the help of a remote control, you can literally change the shape of the bed to your most desired position, as well as eliminate the pressure points while you sleep, read, watch a good movie surf, the web via your laptop or just enjoy a fantastic relaxation session.

Although an adjustable bed can be heavier than a regular bed, and maybe a little more expensive, the comfort level you can attain will definately be worth it. To some, it just doesn’t make sense that we, as people, regularly sleep on a flat surface. Our legs are curved and the human spine is also curved, so by sleeping on a flat bed, we don’t always get the proper rest we deserve, and increase the chances of waking up with aches and pains due to pressure points. You can drastically reduce these problems with a good quality memory foam mattress, and even more so with an adjustable bed armed with a latex foam mattress or viscoelastic foam mattress.

There are many companies out there offering you multiple options when it comes to a top quality adjustable bed for your home. Some examples may include names that may be familiar to you such as, Craftmatic, Simmons, Adjust-A-Bed and RoyalPedic. An Electric bed is a great way to improve the way you feel everyday, due to an excellent night’s sleep night after night for many years to come, so when you shop around for one, you want to make sure the product is durable and comes with a good warranty. You may also want to look at models with tempurature control, and a built in massager, for that extra added comfort and convenience. Think of how great it would be to have a bed that conforms to the shape of your body no matter what you are doing in bed, and provide you with a level of sleep quality and relaxation you never imagined was possible.

Kids Sleeping Bags Review

Mattress No Comments »

If your kids spend any serious time in the outdoors, then they will really benefit from a quality kids sleeping bag. Just like well fitting hiking books or good raingear, a well functioning sleeping bag is a key ingredient in keeping your pint sized camper or hiker happy.

How do you find the right sleeping bag? Any quality outdoor sleeping bag for kids should be light (we recommend 2.5 pounds or less for most cases), durable, and easily washed. Once you are sure a kids sleeping bag meets these qualifications, there are two additional factors to consider. How tall is your child, and how cold is your climate?

In mild climates, most kids will do well in a basic, light sum mer kids sleeping bag. Make sure to find one under 2.5 pounds, there is no excuse for a sleeping bag like this to be heavy. A summer sleeping bag will keep most children comfortable when nights dip down into the 45F range, and they’ll survive the occasional colder night as well.

For kids who camp in cooler conditions, the right bag is a more important choice. In temperatures below 40F, a quality sleeping bag is an essential piece of safety gear. A sleeping bag rated to 20F or 30F is a good place to start, but there are several more things to consider.

The first consideration is to find a bag sized correctly for your child. For kids under four feet tall, a regular kids sleeping bag (or adult bag) will be much too large. In cooler weather, your child won’t be able to keep the air space in a larger sleeping bag warm, no matter what the supposed temperature rating is. Also remember that smaller children can get cold easily, even if they normally feel like little heaters when they sleep. Properly sized sma ll kids sleeping bags will keep them far more comfortable and happy in most weather conditions.

For larger kids, the important factor in finding a good three season sleeping bag is quality of construction. You want to find a bag made by a reputable outdoor manufacturer, like Marmot, Sierra Designs, Big Agnes, or NorthFace. These brands produce quality kids sleeping bags that share features with their adult bags - draft collars, high quality stitching, well functioning zippers, etc.

Why is a Mattress so important?

Mattress No Comments »

Buying a mattress can always be put off until later. Or can it? You shouldn’t scrimp on the single most used piece of furniture in your house. This single item has a lot to do with your health and well being also. How and why should I select a mattress that’s right for me? First, you must understand two basic mattress construction terms. The core is where the springs and structure are. This is what determines the longevity and support. Old mattresses used an inner spring design. Usually, the more inner springs used in a mattress, the better it was. Not so anymore. A current mattress design uses “zones” to locate the number and types of springs since our body weight is not evenly distributed, then why should the springs in our mattress?

The second construction term for a mattress is the upholstery. Several different types of foams, fibers, and materials make up this top layer. This gives the mattress the pillow top or soft feeling. Springs are there for support of this comfort layer.

I personally am sleeping on a Simmon’s Beauty Rest Back Care mattress. It has the wrapped spring coils and several comfort layers. It even has some memory foam. It is an excellent bed and it was reasonably priced.

I looked at several models today. It seems the inner spring mattress will be going to the way side after a few years. Everyone wants a memory foam bed. They have several to choose from, but they are all made out of the same material. This foam is nice and Sealy and Serta have finally come on board with their versions. The tepurpedic has been out there the longest and seems to be the best quality at the best price.

However, foam mattresses just don’t look like a regular bed. They look like a flashback to the days of the popular water beds. Its just not what we are accustomed to seeing. King Koil came out with a combination of this model. A traditional looking mattress, with contemporary foam for a core. You get the look of a regular bed with the benefit of a solid foam core. No more inner springs.

Comes to find out, the most sold mattress in the store where I was at, was the King Koil brand as I described above. Actually, the top 3 sellers were all King Koil brand, with only one of the three have an inner spring coil.

Beds weren’t meant to last forever. You can chunk it and get another. If it’s bad enough for you to get a new one, don’t pass it on and give problems to someone else, either. And don’t sell your old mattress as it is against the law in some states.

Tips on buying Memory foam Mattresses

Mattress No Comments »

Memory foam mattreseses, which are otherwise known as viscoelastic foam mattresses, have made a leap in the world of sleep quality. If you’re looking for optimal comfort, pressure relieving qualities, durability and a great night’s sleep night after night, memory foam mattresses may very well be the way to go for you. There are however many things to consider if you are planning to make a purchase on a top quality sleep system to guarantee your satisfied with your new product. For that reason, we have gathered information which may come in useful.

Memory foam has been around for a while now, and for a long time, Tempurpedic was the sole manufacturer of its type. Over the years, many other companies decided to make their own version of the memory foam mattress, and this competition forced prices to come down, making memory foam mattresses much more affordable. However, if you are looking for a top quality product, you can still expect to pay a fairly high price. Other companies manufacturing memory foam mattresses include Sealy, Simmons, Dormia and Sleep Aids. Although Tempurpedic puts out an excellent product, and guarantees your satisfaction, you can’t really go wrong, but they are not cheap. There are less expensive options for you to choose from, But be very careful and do your research before you invest in a mattress that won’t live up to your expectations.

Not all memory foam mattresses are made the same, for instance, there are several different densities in memory foam. Generally, the higher the density, the higher you can expect to pay. The products you will usually find range from 2.5lb density to 5lb density. The density is how much one cubic foot of the foam weighs, and the higher the density, the firmer the foam. You should avoid any foam having a density less than 3.5 if you would like a quality product. Be very careful of low advertised prices, as they may be either defective, bad pours of foam, low quality and run the risk of not being durable. 5lb density foam may be too firm for some, and just perfect for others, so the best way to get what you want is to try them out yourself, ask plenty of questions pertaining to foam quality and durability.

Your Mattress No Piece Of Furniture Impacts You More

Mattress No Comments »

When you are choosing your mattress, you are choosing your most used and important pieces of furniture. If you sleep the average eight hours a day, and keep your mattress for ten years, you may have spent 29,200 hours on this piece of equipment! It will impact your attitude, your health, and your sense of well being. It is vital that you take all things into account when you venture out to purchase a new mattress.

With recent developments in research and technology, there are many more options when choosing a mattress than there used to be. Mattresses are made to suit the individual, and there are mattresses that are big enough for two people that have separate components, making it possible for each individual to set mattress variables to suit their own individual preference or body type.

Adjustable beds and mattresses are made primarily for people who have back problems. They can alleviate some of the painful problems that a sore back entails by sleeping on an angle, with the upper body positioned higher than the lower body.

Adjustable mattresses are now being designed with flexibility at both ends, so that both the top and bottom of the mattress can be adjusted to rise or recline according to the sleeper’s comfort levels. This is very useful if you are a person who likes to watch television or read a bit before falling asleep at night.

Some mattress companies such as Simmons have developed a mattress with patented padding that absorbs movement while you are catching your winks. This is perfect for a person with a restless partner, as they can sleep undisturbed by the tossing and turning of their bedmate.

New developments in mattress technology have made it easier when you are shopping for the perfect version of your most used item of furniture. Restless spouses need not cause sleepless nights any longer, and a posture correcting mattress can actually help alleviate back pain, for a healthier, more rested you.
